FATIGUE ALARM ON PATIENT SAFETY: SYSTEMATIC REVIEW
Resumo
ABSTRACT
Objectives: The aim is to analyze the scientific papers on fatigue alarm, and understand their impact on patient safety. Methods: We conducted a systematic review of literature through research in CINAHL databases, MEDLINE and MEDICLATINA. Using descriptors in Portuguese and English language, the inclusion criteria in the selection of articles were: original articles and systematic reviews of the complete literature, publication date between the years 2012 and 2014. Results: The prevalence studies are predominantly prospective articles, in which there is clinical trials and randomized controlled and observational articles. In this review included items are placed between the Tier 2a and 3, so we can conclude that these are studies with a high evidence. Thus, we obtained 4 articles observational and prospective 5 articles. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that fatigue alarm is a reality within the intensive care units. The data produced in this research included: the sensitivity and specificity of alarms; the performance of health professionals; the fatigue reduction strategies alarms and increased patient safety.
